Unibasq presented this year for the first time their candidacy to the Bikain certificates. Bikain is a public, official certification that the Basque Government issues to entities that prove a normalization, presence, use, and management of their activities in the Basque Language.

35 organizations from different sectors have been awarded a Bikain certificate this year 2017: 16 received a higher standard recognition, 17 intermediate and 2 average. The qualifications are established after going through an external evaluation process, which includes visits to the workplaces and interviews to the personnel. Unibasq achieved the Silver recognition thanks to the effort of all its staff members and in particular, to the support received from its Euskara Batzordea (Basque Language Use-Promotion Team).

Bingen Zupiria, counsellor for Culture and Linguistics Policies, and Miren Dobaran, vice-counsellor for Culture and Linguistics Policies, handed the Linguistic Management Quality Certificate Bikain, in an act that took place last 13th of December at Palacio Euskalduna, Bilbao. Director of Unibasq, Eva Ferreira, represented Unibasq in the act.

Bikain Evaluation Club has a total of 666 members, from all fields. Since 2008, 348 entities that represent around 65,000 workers, have obtained a Bikain Certificate.
