Unibasq participated in the European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF) at Corvinus University in Budapest (Hungary) from 12 to 14 November as a member of the EQAF Programme Committee representing ENQA. The Committee is responsible for deciding on the theme, developing the concepts for the sessions, identifying the speakers and selecting the contributions for the Forum, as well as chairing some of the sessions. The Committee is composed of representatives from ENQA, EUA, EURASHE and ESU, as well as an independent academic advisor.
EQAF 2025 began with a plenary session led by Jamil Salmi, entitled ‘Building and fostering resilience in higher education: the role of QA’. Over two days, intense debates took place on the role of quality assurance in defending public education as a shared social good and in promoting academic values to ensure that higher education remains a foundation for progress and development. New policies, innovative methodologies and tools to promote institutional autonomy and effective governance amid disruptions and external pressures were also explored. There was also discussion on how quality assurance can maintain the spirit of international academic cooperation within and outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), even in the face of closures or restrictions in different national contexts. The programme concluded with a plenary lecture by Maarja Beerkens entitled “From crisis to innovation: Strengthening higher education through agile QA”.
